BIRTHING WITH HYPNOSIS

Storyblocks.com

A study conducted at the University of Wisconsin in Canada, demonstrated that women who have been instructed in using Hypnosis for childbirth experienced less discomfort, reduced pain and shorter labors. Less medication is required and the recovery is much quicker. Hypnosis should be used as early as possible during pregnancy because it can help with discomfort, nausea, fatigue, and anxiety.
Moya and James (1960) found that babies whose mothers used hypnosis to facilitate birth showed significantly greater ability to recover from asphyxia or deficient supply of oxygen which accompanies birth.
Mairs (1995) found that women trained in the use of hypnosis reported significantly lower rating of both pain and anxiety following birth.
Cyna, McAuliffe and Andrew (2004) found that women using hypnotic anesthesia for birth not only rated their labor pain as less severe, they generally required less opioid use, with some not requiring pharmacological analgesia at all in the labor process.
Tania Lapointe declared after she gave birth to her third child using Hypnosis: This was like heaven compared to the other two.
Birthing with Hypnosiscourse taught by Dr. Gabor provides essential training in self-hypnosis that will help the mother-to-be to eliminate the pain during childbirth by breaking the cycle of fear-tension-pain. The contraction will be felt as surge, pressure or tingling sensation instead of agonizing pain. The birth companion has an important role in supporting the mother-to-be in practicing self-hypnosis by learning specific techniques for enhancing her hypnotic state, helping her to remain in and deepen her state of relaxation/hypnosis. This method is the easiest way to a comfortable pregnancy, an amazing bonding experience with the partner, a painless and shortened labor, a completely natural childbirth and the most gentle birth experience for the baby.
Everyone who has the ability to pay attention and concentrate can learn self-hypnosis.  Hypnosis does not remove the mother-to-be from the birthing process. During the child birthing process the mother is fully relaxed and fully in control, being able to talk, follow doctor’s instructions, and remember everything that has happened.
The experience of being in a hypnotic state is similar to daydreaming or focusing that occurs when reading a book or watching a movie.  It is also very similar to REM sleep because the body and mind achieve a deep state of relaxation. Hypnotic subjects can bring themselves out of hypnosis at anytime. In this deep relaxed state the body’s own natural anesthesia created by the release of endorphins, replaces the stress hormones that constrict and cause pain. Birthing with hypnosis is a natural method of allowing the mother-to-be experience a more natural state of birth fulfillment by giving birth in a calm atmosphere of relaxation, free of fear and tension.
Birthing with Hypnosis taught by Dr. Gabor is a 6 session (90 min/session) course for the mother-to-be and her birth companion.  Audio recording materials designed for practicing self-hypnosis are provided every session.
